History Of The Trust

Celebrating Twenty Years Of Promoting Responsible Dog Ownership

In 2002 Gary and Pat Gregory opened the Lugari Dog Club in Houghton Regis Bedfordshire, providing dog training classes for the local community. The dog club was hugely successful and in 2008 it became a registered charity the Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust, in preparation for the new “Central Bedfordshire” borders and council.

The trusts primary focus was the provision of dog training classes in Obedience, Ring Craft, Agility and Flyball. It was the first ever National Lottery Funded Canine Society. The trust also ran the Central Bedfordshire Dog Show.

Since Covid-19 the trust has switched its focus from the provision of training classes directly and now instead focuses more on grant making to dog charities and organisations.

Eidas Dog Training supports the charity by running dog training classes in Kensworth and administering membership services with a guaranteed set percentage of fees going directly as a donation to the trust to further its charitable work.

What The Trust Does

Representing Dog Owners And Making Grants To Dog Organisations

The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust is a dynamic and progressive charity which works to enhance and develop the provision of canine services and responsible dog ownership in the community locally and nationally.

Our work encapsulates many different aspects of the canine world, and works at all times to ensure that we meet our charitable objective. Our grants, schemes and campaigns ensure that whatever your canine interest, the trust is working to ensure that you are represented, that all dogs are treated fairly and properly, whilst ensuring that all those concerned with dogs have educational and development opportunities. Dogs are truly "Mans Best Friend" and the trust works to ensure that this will remain the case for generations to come. As a charity the trust relies entirely on the support of our members and donors, to ensure that this vital work continues.

Our Charitable Objective

"To advance the education and development of the public, in particular but not exclusively dog owners, dog exhibitors and dog breeders, in responsible dog ownership, including public safety, dog training, recognising the importance of health and welfare of dogs, working for the general improvement of dogs and encouraging the development of courtesy, sportsmanship and self-discipline of all those concerned with dogs through education and training."
